City multipliers reflect a metro's typical salary adjustment relative to the US national median — driven by both cost-of-living (BEA Regional Price Parities) and local market demand. San Francisco's 1.55× multiplier, for example, reflects both its 244 cost-of-living index and its dominant tech employer presence.
Local salary = national median × city multiplier. Entry, experienced, and 90th percentile figures use the same multiplier applied to BLS percentile data.
Year-over-year growth reflects each sector's 2025-2026 wage trend per BLS Employment Cost Index.
Take-home pay uses 2026 federal brackets ($14,600 standard deduction), state income tax effective rates, FICA (7.65% to $176,100 SS wage base), and city-specific local taxes (NYC, Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland, Kansas City, Columbus, Baltimore, Louisville).
